In 1996, President Clinton signed the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), requiring nearly all health care providers to comply with a new set of legal obligations.

Compliance is mandated April 21, 2003 and Continuex is aware of these regulations and is fully committed to assisting its customers in compliance with their new obligations.

Part of the HIPAA Privacy Regulations require health care providers to obtain "satisfactory assurance" that all "Business Associates" will protect the confidentiality of individually identifiable healthcare information. Although Continuex is not a "Business Associate" as a result of the licensing of its software to customers, Continuex will be a "Business Associate" when it periodically obtains access to client information to perform routine support services.

It is the intention of Continuex to fully comply with the "Business Associate" provisions of the HIPAA Privacy Regulations when it performs these services.
